The bird in the below three photos was very wary of my presence. I stood near the edge of the water behind some flowering bushes for a long time to get these frames. Here the crane lands on a narrow surface in this shallow canal.
the crane stood completely still for a long time before striking at fish in the water.
Other nearby birds seemed to distract him from his hunting.
These shots below were further south, in the Li'ao (丽岙） town area of Wenzhou （温州市）. Near the canals these cranes (some over three feet tall) can be seen perching in the treetops near the Baiyun mountain (白云山)
